Drive-by robbery near Wilson station
A bizarre drive-by robbery near Wilson subway station left one woman robbed of her cash, identification and ipod on Dec. 14.
The 23-year-old woman told police she was in the area of Wilson Avenue and Transit Road when a red car similar to a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic pulled up alongside, cutting off her path. Police say two men, one armed with a knife, leaned out of the car, while a third man remained in the driver’s seat. The men demanded the contents of the woman’s purse. When she complied, the men fled the scene westbound on Wilson. The woman was unharmed.
Knifepoint robbery on Glencairn
A man was held at knifepoint during a would-be robbery at Glencairn Avenue and Glengrove Avenue West on Dec. 19.
The man, 25, told police he was in the area around 2 p.m. when two men wearing disguises approached. Police say one perpetrator placed the man in a choke hold, held a knife to his throat and demanded his cell phone. The man managed to get away, and both robbers fled the scene empty-handed westbound on Glencairn Avenue toward Bathurst Street. The man was unharmed.
Cellphones and jackets stolen from teens
Two teens were robbed of their jackets and cellphones in the area of Ranee Avenue and Varna Drive on Dec. 17.
The 14-year-old boys told police they were approached by two men around 6:30 p.m. With one robber indicating he had a gun, the pair reportedly demanded the teens hand over their jackets and cellphones. No weapon was seen during the incident.
The teens complied, and the men fled the scene. The teens were unharmed.
This follows another similar robbery incident that occurred on Dec. 13 in the area of Ranee Avenue and Flemington Road. In this case, an 18-year-old man was approached from behind by two men wearing disguises. Police say the men searched the man and stole his cellphone, headphones and a baseball cap before fleeing. The man was also unharmed.
