Mowing the lawn is going to be a bit trickier for the next month, as lawn signs advertising candidates for the municipal election are now allowed to be put up.
In wards 16, 22, 25, 26 and 27, signs had already popped up on local streets, with some being sparsely sprinkled and others being found on a nearly house-to-house basis.
FAST START: In Ward 26, challenger Jon Burnside, who finished a close second to incumbent councillor John Parker in 2010, often had dozens of signs in Leaside on a single street. Parker’s signs were also visible though fewer, and some signs for both David Sparrow and Ishrath Velshi were also lining Leaside streets.
BIG PRESENCE: In Ward 22, the incumbent councillor Josh Matlow was the only candidate whose signs could seen on several streets in Davisville.
In Moore Park in Ward 27, incumbent councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam had a few signs while challenger Megan McIver was also present. Wong-Tam’s signs often included a small sign on top for Ward 14 trustee candidate Chris Moise.
SOLE SIGN: In Ward 25, the incumbent councillor Jaye Robinson was the only candidate with signs up in some areas, including here on Mt Pleasant Road.
MISH MASH: In the southeastern part of Ward 16, not many lawn signs were found, save for a small strip on Duplex Avenue where three candidates — Charm Darby, Michael Coll and Sean Conacher — had placed their signs.
