Fetus is connected to murder-suicide: police

Police say a fetus found near the scene of a grisly December murder-suicide of a recently married couple is linked to the woman.

Precious Charbonneau, 33, was stabbed several times by husband Robert Giblin, according to police, who say Giblin then pushed Charbonneau from their 21st-floor balcony near St. Clair Avenue West and Bathurst Street, causing her to fall to her death. Giblin then took his own life by jumping from the balcony, police say. Charbonneau was nine weeks pregnant at the time.

Two days later police were back at the scene at 111 Raglan Ave. after someone believed they found a human fetus.

Within days, some media reported that police had ruled out a link between the two cases. However in late December, Toronto Police Const. Victor Kwong told the Town Crier that was not the case, as police were waiting for official results from the coroner’s office.

Police said DNA testing results came back yesterday and confirmed the fetus was a match to Charbonneau.
