Get thee to a debate

[attach]2251[/attach]With only a matter of weeks before Torontonians choose their new mayor and council now’s the time to decide who will win your vote. For those looking for a little more information the Town Crier has put together a list of selected mayoral and council debates around the city.

Wed., Sept. 22
Toronto Board of Trade mayoral debate: Finance, Transportation and Managing the City. What will Toronto’s next mayor do to improve the municipal services that matter most to Torontonians? Tribute Communities Recital Hall, Accolade East Building, York University, Keele campus.7– 8:30 p.m.

Wed., Oct. 6
St. Paul’s Ward 22 all-candidates debate, at the First Unitarian Congregation, 175 St. Clair Ave. West. 6:30 p.m. start. Toronto District School Board trustee candidates will debate for one hour, followed by the council candidates. Hosted by the Town Crier.

Wed., Oct. 6
Eglinton-Lawrence’s Ward 16 all-candidates debate, Fairlawn United Church, 28 Fairlawn Avenue. Starts at 7:30 p.m. Toronto District School Board candidates and councillor candidates will be debating.

Thurs., Oct. 7
Toronto Board of Trade mayoral debate: Planning, Community, the Environment and Sustainability — What will the new mayor do to improve sustainability and engage Torontonians in their vision for the health and design of the city? 7 p.m. St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts: Jane Mallett Theatre, 27 Front St. East.

Tues., Oct. 12
Bloor-Yorkville community hosts Toronto mayoral candidate debate, Cody Hall, St. Paul’s Bloor Street, 227 Bloor St. East. 7-9 p.m. Topics are development intensification conflicts in Yorkville and loss of heritage assets, and small business tax. Wed., Oct 13
Ward 22 residents associations host a councillor candidates meeting at 7:30 p.m., Manor Road Church, 240 Manor Rd., east of Mt. Pleasant Road. Come hear the candidates and ask them your questions.

Thurs., Oct. 14
Toronto Green Community hosts all-candidates meeting on local environmental issues in the North Toronto community. 7-9 p.m. at North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, 200 Eglinton Ave. West. Candidates from Eglinton-Lawrence, St. Paul’s and Don Valley West to participate. Light refreshments will be served. Bring your own mug. Mon., Oct. 18
Avenue Road Eglinton Community Association is hosting a Ward 16 all-candidates meeting at their annual general meeting at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, 200 Eglinton Ave. West. 7 p.m. start. The forum will be sponsored and moderated by the Town Crier. Light refreshments will be served.
