MIDTOWN MINISTERS: Glen Murray, left, takes on environment and Dr. Eric Hoskins, right, becomes health minister after Premier Kathleen Wynne named her new cabinet.

Two midtown MPPs find themselves with new portfolios following Premier Kathleen Wynne’s post-election cabinet shuffle today.

Dr. Eric Hoskins, who has represented St. Paul’s since 2009 and was economic development minister at the time the provincial parliament was dissolved on May 2, is the new health minister. He replaces Deb Matthews in the high-profile position.

Toronto Centre MPP Glen Murray leaves his dual post in transportation and infrastructure to become Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, his fifth cabinet position since being elected in 2010. Murray has previously been Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, as well as research and innovation.

Wynne, who held two cabinet positions — agriculture and food, and intergovernmental affairs — while being premier, has passed the agriculture and food ministry to Peterborough MPP Jeff Leal. She will keep her post as intergovernmental affairs minister.

Eglinton-Lawrence MPP Mike Colle did not get a cabinet position. He most recently served as parliamentary assistant to Murray in the transportation and infrastructure ministries.
