It all started with an attack on a man and his dog….

Two days ago an alleged assault of a man and his dog in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood led to a police pursuit by car into the Moore Park area, and continued with more alleged assaults, a reported collision with a fire truck, and a foot chase in North York’s Parkwoods area.

The wide-ranging drama ended with the arrest of a 34-year-old man who faces numerous charges, according to a police statement today.

The incident was reported on May 9 by Streeter in Don Valley Daily Updates when all that was known, based on police Twitter messages, was the last part of the story taking place at about 1:30 p.m. near Victoria Park Avenue and Ellesmere Road.

Now police are reporting it had all begun about two-and-a-half hours earlier when a man was reported to have assaulted a 34-year-old man and a dog in the residential Glenavy and Glazebrook avenue area, near Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.

Driving further south on Victoria Park, he allegedly struck a fire truck responding to a radio call, assaulted  a firefighter and fled on foot.

Police report they were then able to find him and an arrest was made.
