Man charged after midtown crime spree

Police lay six charges, including sexual assault, after three women victimized

A 33-year-old man faces six charges after police allege he was behind an early morning crime spree near Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue on Wednesday.

Police say three women were victimized within an hour of each other. The first woman, 52, was approached at 5:45 a.m. and assaulted. The woman screamed and the man fled.

The second woman, 32, was approached from behind five minutes later. She was forced to the ground and assaulted. The man then took some of the woman’s belongings, sexually assaulted her and fled the scene.

The third woman, 46, was approached from behind at 6:45 a.m. She was forced into a building lobby and elevator, where she was assaulted. The man took some of her belongings before she was able to flee.

Robert Shah is charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement and two counts each of robbery and assault.

Police believe there may be more victims.
