Police make arrest in ‘Lunchtime Bandit’ case

A 20-year-old man is facing five robbery charges for a series of midtown bank holdups in late 2016, attributed to the “Lunchtme Bandit.”

Police arrested the man Jan. 10, three weeks after holding a press conference where images of a suspect were released.

The robberies occurred between Nov. 21 and Dec. 17 along Yonge Street between Davisville and Lawrence avenues.

In each case, police said the “Lunchtime Bandit” — named so because four of the robberies occurred between noon and 1 p.m. — produced a well-written note indicating he was armed and making a demand for cash.

Michael Lilly, 20, is charged with five counts of robbery.
