Pool's future still up in the air
Time is running out for Monarch Park CI’s pool.
Swim advocates can only save it from being drained if they find sufficient permit revenue to pay for operating expenses.
On December 9, the Toronto District School Board trustees deadlocked on a vote to reopen the east end pool by no later than Jan. 4.
Since a tie vote counts as a negative vote, the pool will remain closed for now until the board debates a report in February from the Aquatics Working Group on the fate of nine pools still on the threatened list.
“No pools will be drained until the board has had a chance to receive and review the report on pools from the Aquatics Working Group,” said school board chair Bruce Davis in a statement.
