Spate of east-end robberies

On Jan. 4 just before 3:30 p.m., a 24 year old man was in the area of Balsam Avenue and Queen Street East when he was approached by a man, who demanded money, police say. The victim complied. The suspect then pulled out a knife, stabbed the victim in his left forearm and a struggle ensued. The suspect then fled the scene northbound on Beech Avenue. The victim was transported by Toronto EMS to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

Shortly after midnight on Jan 6., a 43 year old male employee of Wing Machine, located on Danforth Avenue, was approached by six men while in the area of Vendome Place and Grenoble Drive. One man reportedly pulled out a handgun and demanded cash and food.

The victim complied. The six suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was unharmed.

Later that same day, just after 5 p.m., a 57-year-old man was approached from behind by another man while near the area of Danforth Avenue and Guest Avenue. Police say the suspect took cash and receipts from the victim after engaging him in conversation. A struggle ensued, and the suspect reportedly punched the victim in the face, knocking him unconscious.

The suspect then fled the scene westbound on Danforth Avenue. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to hospital by Toronto EMS where he was treated and later released.

A 22 year old man was in Donlands subway station on Jan. 7 when he was approached by a man. Police say the man removed a cellular phone from the victim’s possession and a struggle ensued. The suspect reportedly punched the victim in the face and fled the scene toward Danforth Avenue. The victim received minor injuries.

Police say a 17 year old boy was in the area of Barrington Avenue and Secord Avenue on Dec. 31 when he was approached by two male suspects. One suspect pulled out a knife and made a demand for the boy’s cellphone. The victim complied. The second suspect then made a demand for the boy’s wallet, and he complied again. The suspects fled the scene northbound on Barrington Avenue. The boy was unharmed.
