Speed cut on Bayview extension
Bayview Avenue between Pottery Road and Rosedale Valley Road will be more bicycle-friendly now that the city has decided to lower the speed limit to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians.
Toronto and East York community council adopted a recommendation from the city’s transportation services department to lower the speed limit by 10 km/h to 60 km/h.
The city will also remove a centre median and modify the east shoulder of Bayview Avenue to make more room for pedestrians.
Staff recommended the changes based on the changing nature of the thoroughfare and the increased presence of cyclists and pedestrians.
