Traffic cop struck by car, driver arrested

A woman is in custody after failing to remain at the scene where she struck a parking enforcement officer this morning on a Moore Park street, police allege.

Police responded at 9:35 a.m. Friday to a call reporting a person had been hit on Rosedale Heights Drive near MacLennan Avenue. The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

A 30–40-year-old woman who was driving a silver four-door Volkswagen has been arrested and charges are pending, police say. They did not release the woman’s name.

The incident comes less than two weeks after a female traffic cop was struck by a car in the same neighbourhood.

Police say they are looking for a suspect in that case, where a man is alleged to have had a verbal confrontation with the officer, then driven his car close to her, striking her with the side view mirror.

The man was last seen driving south on Cliffton Road in a vehicle described as a black four-door Acura MDX or RDX with partial licence plate BAXS. A 10–12-year-old child was said to be in the passenger seat.

The man is described as white and 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10 and wearing a blue sweatshirt and jogging pants.
