Trio of veteran MPs aim to keep their seats

[attach]3977[/attach]In the ridings surrounding Forest Hill a trio of MPs are looking to hold on to their seats.

In Davenport, Liberal incumbent [url=http://www.mariosilva.ca/en/]Mario Silva[/url] will be defending his seat against second-time candidate [url=http://www.theresarodrigues.ca/]Theresa Rodrigues[/url] for the Conservatives, singer-songwriter [url=http://www.cashfortoronto.ca/]Andrew Cash[/url] for the NDP, and cycling activist [url=http://davenportgpc.com/]Wayne Scott[/url] for the Greens. Communist Party of Canada leader [url=http://www.votecommunist.ca/miguel-figueroa-party-leader/]Miguel Figueroa[/url] and Animal Alliance Environment Voters Party of Canada member [url=http://www.environmentvoters.org/41st%20General%20Election.html]Simon Luisi[/url] are also looking to challenge Silva.

Davenport has been solidly Liberal since 1962 and Silva was re-elected easily in 2008, besting his NDP challenger by over 5,000 votes.

Trinity-Spadina will see the 2008 rematch of NDP incumbent [url=http://www.oliviachow.ca/]Olivia Chow[/url] and Liberal [url=http://christineinnes.liberal.ca/]Christine Innes[/url]. Chow defeated Innes by 3,475 votes. While Chow has represented the riding since 2006 it took her three attempts to unseat former Liberal MP, Tony Ianno. The Conservatives are running [url=http://www.ginsiow.ca/]Gin Siow[/url], founder of the Malaysian Association of Canada, while the Greens are running [url=http://trinityspadinagreens.ca/]Rachel Barney[/url], the Canada Research chair in Classical Philosophy at U of T, the Marxist-Leninist Party is running [url=http://www.mlpc.ca/candidates/Ontario/Trinity-Spadina_Lin_MLPC2011.html]Nick Lin[/url] and the Libertarian Party candidate is Chester Brown.

In 2008 Liberal incumbent [url=http://bobrae.liberal.ca/]Bob Rae[/url] took Toronto Centre by a whopping 18,000 votes over Conservative challenger David Gentili. This time around Rae will be defending his seat against Conservative [url=http://www.kevinmoore.ca/]Kevin Moore[/url], executive director of City of Hope, NDP candidate [url=http://www.susanwallace.ndp.ca/]Susan Wallace[/url], a former national executive director of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, second-time Green candidate [url=http://www.electellen.ca/]Ellen Michelson[/url], a retired teacher and original member of the WindShare co-operative, Libertarian Judi Falardeau, Marxist-Leninist [url=http://www.mlpc.ca/candidates/Ontario/TorontoCentre_Fernandez_MLPC2011.html]Philip Fernandez[/url], Communist [url=http://www.votecommunist.ca/cathy/]Catherine Holliday[/url] and independent [url=http://bahmanyazdanfar.com/]Bahman Yazdanfar[/url].
