Voter turnout high in advance polls

If the advance poll numbers are any indication the voter turnout during next week’s election will be extremely high.

In eight days of voting more than 77,000 made their choice for Toronto’s next mayor, their local councillor and school board trustee — an 82.5 percent increase over 2006.

“We are pleased that so many voters have chosen to take advantage of the city’s advance vote opportunities,” said Bonita Pietrangelo, director of elections and registry services.

Election day is Monday, Oct. 25 with polls open from 10 a.m.–8 p.m. For information on where to vote consult your voter identification card or contact the city at 311 or www.toronto.ca/elections/.
