Ward 25 has plenty to do over the summer months
[attach]4396[/attach]With the summer months upon us and the first signs of truly warm weather slowly beginning to show, it’s an ideal time to begin exploring our city and its thriving neighbourhoods. As Toronto is one of the most liveable cities, the summer months are a perfect time to go out and explore.
There are many places to explore in Ward 25, and with events being showcased throughout the summer, residents are sure to be busy. There are a variety of particularly beautiful hidden gems throughout Toronto, and more locally in Ward 25. The Toronto Botanical Gardens, located in Edwards Gardens is the ward’s retreat into peaceful calm. The site is home to 17 themed gardens, spanning nearly two hectares. Visitors, both young and old can find a range of indoor and outdoor learning experiences, tours, nature day camps, field trips and an extensive horticultural library. Should visitors need a bit of a rest, there is an opportunity to sit and enjoy a cool drink and a quick bite to eat at the seasonal café. Though the Toronto Botanical Gardens is located on the grounds of Edwards Gardens, it is a separate entity. The volunteer-run charity is dedicated to bringing a love of nature and gardening to individuals throughout the ward and across the city.
With the CN Spurline located nearby, there are ample opportunities to cycle or walk down the path that stretches from Bond Park in the north, to the railway crossing in the south. This multi-use pathway is a great way to get from one part of the ward to another, and though it is currently still in progress, I am making headway in finding a viable solution to complete the unfinished sections. The warm weather will undoubtedly bring with it families and friends eager to explore the path and enjoy the surrounding area, and once completed, it will be a useful connection for cyclists in Ward 25.
Our city is an exciting place looking to be discovered, and while many residents look outside of the city to enjoy their holidays, there is no need to look further than Ward 25 for an afternoon of exploration.
