Ward 26 candidates face questions

Residents in Thorncliffe had the opportunity to meet their Ward 26 council candidates at the Willowglen Co-op Housing Aug. 22. The eight candidates (from left Tanvir Ahmed, Jon Burnside, Mohamed Dhanani, Nawab Salim Khan, Shaukat Malik, Yunus Pandor, John Parker and Sagu Vinothachandran) fielded questions regarding fair wage, multiculturalism, pedestrian safety and traffic. Also part of the panel were school trustee candidates Gerri Gershon and Muhammed Shahid (not pictured).

The debate was very well organized but half the candidates had no idea what their jurisdictions were. For instance Mr.Tanvir was absolutely clueless on the responsibilities of a Councilor, as was Mr.Nawab Salim. Mr.Parker has already showed us years of incompetence and the lady Sagu really needs to work on her communication skills, it was very hard to understand what she was trying to say. Similar issues with Malik Shaukat, he seemed to be focused only on the area of Thorncliffe Park, I mean being a Leaside resident, i see now reason to vote for him.
The only credible people running the race would have to be Jon Burnside, Yunus Pandor & Mohammed Dhanani.
