Sporting Life 10K brings out crowd for Mother’s Day

Thousands of runners hit the starting line at Yonge Street and Roselawn Avenue early on May 13 to run the Sporting Life 10K.

Though the first wave of runners, originally set to start at 7:30 am, were delayed 13 minutes, that did not take away their steam.

A total of 17,814 — 10,188 women and 7,668 men — took part in the event that raised around $2 millioon for Camp Ooch which provides support for kids with Cancer.

Finishing first overall at the race was Torontonian Wendimu Adamu with a time of 29:57.0. Josh McGillivray and Bonsa Gonfa finished second and third with times of 30:12.6 and 30:32.2, respectively.
