April 28: Pax Christi Chorale in concert

The award-winning Toronto-based Pax Christi Chorale performs on April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Church on-the-Hill.

To be performed is Die Schöpfung (The Creation), Franz Joseph Haydn’s dramatic musical depiction of chaos and order, light and life, including a visual interpretation through live video by Sandy Rossingnol.

Performers include soprano Danika Lorèn, tenor Charles Sy, bass-baritone Olivier Laquerre, and the Toronto Mozart Players.

David Bowser conducts.

The Pax Christi Chamber choir placed first in its category in Choral Canada’s 2017 national competition for amateur choirs, for its performance of works by two talented young Canadian composers, Jared Tomlinson and Matthew Emery. The full choir was awarded honourable mention in its category in the same competition.

The choir’s most recent CD, “Thirty Years of Song”, was released in spring 2017. It features highlights from the choir’s 30th anniversary season including the first-prize winning entries in Choral Canada’s national competition.

Grace Church on-the-Hill is located at 300 Lonsdale Rd.

Tickets are $45, seniors $40, student $25.
