THINGS TO DO

Aug. 17–28: Get the Word on the Street — virtually

The Word On The Street is not exactly on the street this year, thanks to COVID-19.

But the huge usually-outdoor book and magazine festival encouraging reading is still taking place in digital form for kids and teenagers this summer.

The Summer Spectacular will feature two weeks of free daily virtual programming for kids and teens, with activity-based learning, readings by featured authors, writing workshops, plus storytelling, spelling bees, readings, love letter writing and more.

Highlights include:

  • Aug. 17–19 – Fun for Early Readers (ages 3–8
  • Aug. 24–26 – Mid-Grade Adventures (ages 9–12)
  • Aug. 20, 21 and 27 – Storytelling Arts (ages 12+)
  • Aug. 28 – Party Day.

It’s all online and free (donations are appreciated). But registration is required.
