A worthwhile day at the races

Here are a few upcoming walks and races you can start training for today.

For the cause

It comes but once a year. No, not Christmas, but the annual Sporting Life 10k Toronto.

The race is in support of Camp Ooch, a camp and in-hospital programming for kids with cancer. It kicks off at Yonge Street and Roselawn Avenue, and takes place along Yonge Street.

Lace up for May 11.

Fun run

Color Me Rad is a 5k run where participants get pelted and sprayed with a fresh colour every kilometre along the way.

The next race day hits Toronto on May 31 at Downsview Park. Even couch potatoes can get behind this fun event.

Walking shoes

Meagan’s Walk: Creating a Circle of Hope was founded by Denise Bebenek in Toronto after she lost her 5-year-old daughter to a brain tumour in 2001.

The 13th annual fundraising event to increase public awareness about brain tumours takes off on May 10. It culminates with a human hug around the Hospital for Sick Children.
